Surgery Indication
When the surgery is indicated?
Currently the following criteria are worked to indicate the bariatric surgery:
* BMI < 40kg/m2 or 45kg over the ideal weight;
* BMI < 35kg/m2 with grave co-morbidities;
* Knowledge about the procedure;
* Previous tentative of loss weight without successes through medical treatment or well conducted nutritional treatment;
* Lack of grave psycho-pathological case;
* Possibility to keep the postoperative procedure;
* Written consentient after explanation.
Cases that the surgery is not indicated:
Only the medical group can analyze each case and its particularities:
* Patients < 15 > 60 years old;
* Obesity cased by endocrine disease;
* Patients with risk disease;
* Lack of the patient's commitment to follow the treatment;
* Chemical dependence;
* Decompensate Psychoses.
